You can dropship nonliving garden supplies such as grow bags, pots, trays and watering fittings when a supplier will send the selected goods to your customer. Start with a small range whose sizes, included pieces and packed delivery costs you can explain. Avasam offers a garden dropshipping category; buying from a trade planter supplier is another arrangement to agree, with different order and shipping terms.

Imagine Nora is opening a US store for balcony gardeners. Her first test order is a set of three fabric grow bags shipped to a US customer ZIP code. Later she may add a tray that fits a shelf or a connector that fits a tap, but those are separate products with their own fit checks. “Large,” “five gallons” or “universal fitting” may sound helpful; none tells a buyer everything needed to make a purchase work.

The store and cost examples here are hypothetical. The named products illustrate published specifications, not tested resale offers. This guide covers nonliving supplies; live plants, seeds, pesticides, chemical fertilizers and powered tools need different sourcing and product rules.

01

Choose a garden job you can explain

Nora can build a useful first range around a small garden job: containing plants, watering them or supporting their growth. A focused offer is easier to describe than a catalogue containing everything from hose washers to huge planters. Use the broader product-selection guide for category choices, then work through the garden details.

Garden job Possible nonliving products The detail the buyer needs
Make room for growing Grow bags, pots and trays Open dimensions, quantity, drainage and usable space
Connect watering equipment Tap and hose fittings Actual thread, hose size, connection type and model
Assemble a growing space Raised-bed kits, stakes and supports Finished size, hardware, instructions and included pieces
Cover a growing area Garden netting Roll dimensions and mesh opening size

On a phone, swipe the table sideways to compare every column.

Mesh size and roll coverage answer different questions

A roll’s coverage and its mesh are different measurements. For example, The Garden Shop’s reviewed netting lists a 2 × 10 m roll with 20 × 20 mm openings. That does not establish protection against every insect or pest. Sell the dimensions and supported purpose accurately rather than adding a broad protection promise.

Nora starts with the three-bag set because it can fold for shipping. She has not yet found an approved supplier willing to send one set directly to a US consumer. Until an actual item, unit and ZIP-based parcel quote are confirmed, this is a product test, not a listing ready to sell. A large rigid planter or metal bed needs a separate freight and missing-part plan.

Keep the garden task clear. Decorative objects have their own home-decor considerations; tables and benches have furniture delivery questions. Personal camping and hiking equipment belongs to outdoor gear. A pot’s liner, drainage hole or hose connection needs an answer specific to growing and watering.

02

Choose a supplier route for the actual order

For the US example, Nora needs a supplier that will accept one three-bag set and ship it to her customer’s ZIP code. She first asks a US-capable supplier for that exact item and parcel quote; the public pages below do not prove any named wholesaler supplies that set by the piece. A trade account or low minimum is not automatically a single-customer dropship program.

Route Published offer What Nora needs to establish
Avasam garden dropshipping Garden products with store/channel connections; the reviewed category describes UK sourcing A separate UK-store branch, not Nora’s assumed US grow-bag source
SaleHoo garden category Product and supplier discovery Which actual supplier accepts her order and on what terms
NewPro wholesale planters US trade planter supply with account support, quotes and freight coordination; many standard products have no formal minimum quantity Possible later rigid-planter route; its page does not verify Nora’s one-set grow-bag order
BFG trade account US green-industry trade supply, with location-dependent order minimums starting at $400 Possible larger trade purchase; this does not establish single-consumer grow-bag fulfillment

On a phone, swipe the table sideways to compare every column.

A catalogue is not an approved US order

A US supplier’s catalogue entry does not prove that the chosen three-bag set is in stock or can ship to a consumer ZIP. Ask for a live item code and one-order invoice. If Nora instead builds a UK store, Avasam’s UK-focused category is a separate lead; she must verify a UK item and postcode quote rather than reuse the US example.

For a US supplier, apply using real business details, then send a short request: “Can you ship one three-bag set to this customer ZIP code? Please include the item code, set contents, packed dimensions and weight, delivery charge, dispatch estimate, packing-slip identity and return or shortage procedure.” If the supplier delivers only to Nora’s premises, she needs storage and onward fulfillment; that is a different cost calculation.

Standard and custom minimums can differ

Minimum quantities, account eligibility and custom-work conditions vary. NewPro notes that custom finishes and some specialty items can have minimums even when standard products do not. A directory’s description of another retailer, such as a Greenfingers sourcing guide, is also not that retailer’s authorization to supply your customers. We have not opened or tested these supplier accounts or integrations.

03

Measure the space and the part that goes inside

A capacity such as “five gallons” says how much a container is intended to hold. It does not give you its outside diameter, shelf footprint or packed parcel size. Ask for the actual measurements and the unit system used, especially when comparing offers from different markets.

Count the containers too. The reviewed Garden Outside the Box grow-bag page lists its 3-gallon option as three bags, its 5-gallon option as two bags and its 10-gallon option as one bag. Nora cannot assume that changing the capacity leaves the set quantity unchanged. These are retail product examples, not approval of her supplier or delivery arrangement.

Check the count when the capacity changes

For the published retail example above, verify the capacity and count together when the selected variant changes. Nora must still confirm her own supplier and US destination.

Before a size change

Record the exact selected version and the promised contents: three 3-gallon bags. Keep that sale unit tied to the supplier’s actual product code and order unit.

After choosing five gallons

Update the example’s contents to two 5-gallon bags. Reopen the selected product and basket, then compare the accepted supplier line. If the page still says three bags or the supplier sends a different count, correct the mapping before taking that order.

Capacity describes each bag; quantity describes how many arrive. Keep both visible near the size selection. These are proposed checks of published specifications, not a completed supplier or checkout test.

Outside size, inside size and capacity

LECHUZA’s CLASSICO Color LS 50 illustrates why the fields need separate names. The outside diameter is approximately 49 cm, while the removable liner diameter is approximately 43.3 cm. The outside measurement answers whether the planter fits the available space; the liner measurement describes the part inside it.

The same model lists 40 litres of plant volume and a separate 9-litre water reservoir. Those numbers describe different spaces. Neither is the shipping-box volume, and a replacement liner must match the model rather than just an advertised litre capacity. The page offers a coaster as an accessory; “available” does not mean included.

Open size and drainage

Flexible bags introduce another difference. Elixir’s poly-pot listing gives lay-flat measurements—the size when the bag is flat. Do not describe that width as the diameter of an opened round container. Nora needs open dimensions for the customer’s growing space and folded or nested dimensions for the shipping quote.

Drainage also depends on the product. Garland’s G243B tray is 37.5 × 23 × 12.5 cm and has no drainage holes, though it has marked drilling points. LECHUZA’s instructions explain sealing the screw indoors and removing it for outdoor drainage on applicable models; planters without a drain plug are recommended for indoor use. Describe the selected model’s instructions, not a universal rule for all pots.

04

Match the connection and count the included pieces

For watering fittings, a photograph is not enough. GARDENA’s tap-connector range includes different thread sizes and connection types. Its article 18221-20 specifies G¾, shown as 26.5 mm. Use the exact thread and intended connection system rather than calling it suitable for any faucet. Matching a thread label is only one part of establishing fit with the customer’s equipment.

Accessories can look similar while doing different jobs. Hozelock’s connector FAQ, publicly dated March 2020, distinguishes a hose-end connector from an AquaStop connector and says to use the former at both ends of its feeder hose. Describe the actual function and manufacturer’s instructions for the selected system, rather than merging all connectors into one listing.

A compatible accessory is not an included piece

Compatible lids may be separate purchases

Garland names G137, G144 and G233 lids that fit its G243B tray. That does not mean a lid arrives with the tray. For a planter, state whether the liner, irrigation pieces and coaster are included. For a metal bed, count the panels, bolts, trim, bracing and instructions in the selected kit.

Match the brace to the actual bed

Birdies’ Medium 15-inch bed can make several footprints from one kit. Its separate 15-inch brace kit identifies Large or Jumbo 15-inch beds. A recommendation on that page for another bed does not prove the brace fits it. Confirm before adding the spare to a Medium or 29-inch order.

Nora’s product brief should therefore name the manufacturer or supplier item code, selected size and colour, required connection or compatible model, each included piece and any separately sold accessory. An item code—often called a SKU—is just the identifier used to order the particular version. Pair it with the written description so a substituted code cannot quietly change what the customer receives.

05

Price the packed parcel or the pallet

For Nora’s same proposed three-bag set and US delivery, assume a $32 selling price. The $8 set cost and $8 ZIP-based shipping charge below are placeholder inputs until a supplier agrees to send one set directly to that customer. These USD amounts are not quotes for a named brand, NewPro, BFG or AIDrop.

  • Customer revenue: $32.00
  • Grow-bag set: −$8.00
  • Customer shipping: −$8.00
  • Packing: −$1.00
  • Checkout/payment cost: −$1.00
  • Advertising allocated to the order: −$4.00
  • Estimated remedy allowance: −$2.00
  • Remaining before tax, apps and overhead: $8.00

The calculation is $32 − $8 − $8 − $1 − $1 − $4 − $2 = $8. A remedy allowance is an estimate for planning, not a refund already paid. If the actual shipping charge is $12 rather than $8, that remaining amount falls to $4 before the other excluded costs.

Keep supplier cash before payout

The goods, customer shipping and packing total $17 per order. Nora may need to pay those charges before her store’s payment provider sends the customer money to her bank. Ten orders therefore need $17 × 10 = $170 for those supplier and parcel costs alone. Payment costs, ads and money for customer refunds are separate. An approved supplier credit arrangement could change the due date; it does not remove the expense.

Illustrative funding example: ten grow-bag orders at $17 in goods, shipping and packing require $170 before store payout.
Hypothetical example: $17 × 10 = $170 in supplier and parcel costs before payout; payment fees, ads and customer-refund cash are separate.

A large planter changes the delivery job

Large rigid goods can need a pallet rather than an ordinary parcel. That means a truck delivery, potentially an appointment and equipment to lower the pallet. NewPro’s current shipping information generally sends larger planters with a dimension of 24 inches or more by pallet freight. Its published commercial-address example is $1,500 goods + $395 freight minimum + $75 liftgate = $1,970. Residential or limited-access delivery has a separately listed $100 charge where applicable. These are NewPro’s terms, not rates for every garden supplier or carrier.

Even a light parcel can cost more because it is bulky. UPS explains dimensional weight: the box’s length, width and height affect its chargeable size, with divisors varying by rate type. Ask for the packed box dimensions, weight, destination and service. The assembled garden-bed footprint or empty pot capacity cannot replace that shipping information.

06

Send one complete order before adding more products

Before Nora sells the selected set, she should obtain a sample where practical. Open the bags, count them, measure the usable size and inspect the seams and supplied instructions. For a fitting, compare the actual thread and model; for a kit, lay out the components against the supplier’s contents list. A sample checks one received item, not every future shipment or any untested performance claim.

Her first customer order then has five clear stages:

  1. The customer chooses the exact version and quantity, provides the delivery address and pays Nora’s store.
  2. Nora sends the supplier the selected item code, sale unit, quantity, address and agreed packing instructions.
  3. Nora pays the supplier under the approved terms. The supplier accepts the order and confirms the stock it can provide.
  4. The supplier packs and dispatches the complete goods, supplying carrier and tracking information. Nora sends the customer the appropriate update.
  5. Nora follows delivery and handles a missing piece, fit problem or damaged item.

Keep dispatch time and travel time separate. A listed item that normally leaves within one or two business days has not promised arrival in one or two days. A custom finish, a supplier cutoff or a freight appointment can change the schedule. Confirm the actual arrangement before putting a delivery promise on the store.

If a bag set and a connector ship separately, explain that split and provide the right tracking for each parcel. If part of a kit is unavailable, resolve the incomplete order rather than assuming the customer can assemble it without the missing hardware.

For US nonliving goods, the FTC guidance requires a reasonable basis for shipment promises and, when qualifying delays arise, the required customer consent or refund. Dropship fulfillment leaves Nora responsible to her customer. This shipment rule is not an arrival guarantee and expressly excludes seeds and growing plants.

07

Resolve a missing part or damaged planter

Match the remedy to the problem. A missing bolt calls for the right bolt or another workable remedy; a wrong thread calls for the correct fitting, not advice to force it. For a cracked planter, ask for photos of the product and packing, then give a replacement or refund answer. Do not promise that an accessory will fix the order before checking its fit.

The customer remedy comes first. Nora may pursue a supplier credit or carrier claim, but those are separate transactions. The customer should have an answer while that upstream claim is pending.

If Nora later sells a NewPro rigid planter

NewPro’s terms effective April 21, 2026 would matter for that separate trade route, not Nora’s unquoted grow-bag set:

  • Report damage or shortage within two business days; note visible freight damage on the receipt and retain the goods and original packing.
  • Its ordinary authorized-return window is 30 days from invoice, with exceptions including specified custom, fiberglass and clearance goods. Accepted returns carry a 30% restocking deduction and shipping both ways under those terms.

An inspection can delay supplier credit

Those are NewPro’s business-to-business terms, not every garden supplier’s policy or a limit on customer rights. Carrier inspection may delay a credit. Nora therefore needs cash for a customer remedy even when she expects reimbursement.

If the first set is sourced in China

For unbranded supplies, AIDrop’s product-sourcing service can help discuss exact dimensions, samples, included components and packing. Send the product link, US customer ZIP, expected order quantity and the fit or missing-piece question. We can discuss a workable sourcing and fulfillment route; this does not establish brand authorization, a platform connection or a guaranteed shipping price.

Before listing, Nora should be able to state the product’s usable size, included pieces, connection or drainage instructions, delivered cost and remedy. Start with that one clear offer.

Questions before selling garden supplies

Can I treat seeds and live plants like ordinary pots?

No. This guide covers nonliving supplies. Plants and seeds can have different import, shipping and product requirements. Choose a route that supports those actual goods and destination rather than extending a pot supplier’s terms to them.

Does gallon capacity tell me whether a planter fits a shelf?

No. Obtain the outside dimensions and compare them with the shelf. If an existing nursery pot must fit inside, check the usable inner dimensions too. Water-reservoir capacity, planting volume and packed shipping size are separate measurements.

If a lid or connector fits, is it included?

Not necessarily. Check the contents and exact part codes. A tray may accept a separately sold lid, and a watering fitting may belong to another connection system. Show any separately purchased accessory clearly before checkout.

Should I use one freight charge for all garden products?

No. Quote the actual packed item and destination. A folded grow-bag parcel and a large rigid planter on a pallet have different handling. For freight, confirm any liftgate, residential-access or appointment charges before setting the delivered offer.
