Plant pot dropshipping works through home-and-garden catalogs or specialist suppliers that ship customer orders. Start with a clear choice: a pot for direct planting, a decorative outer pot, or a planter with a reservoir. Confirm the usable opening and drainage arrangement before pairing it with a plant.
A “six-inch pot” label is not enough. It might refer to an outside dimension, an approximate size category or a nursery container. A buyer needs to know what goes inside, where the water goes and which pieces arrive in the parcel.
Supplier pages were checked on October 13, 2026. We have not tested their products or delivery performance. Dimensions and damage rates used below are hypothetical.
01
Choose what the pot is supposed to do
Three offers that look similar in a room photo can have different jobs.
| Product | Intended arrangement | Details the listing needs |
|---|---|---|
| Direct-planting pot | Plant and growing medium sit in it | Drainage, usable capacity and any saucer |
| Decorative outer pot, or cachepot | A separate nursery pot sits inside | Usable opening, internal shape and whether the outer pot is closed |
| Reservoir or self-watering system | Components manage water in a specified arrangement | Included parts, assembly, filling and supported use |
Do not describe a closed decorative pot as a drainable planting container unless its construction supports that use. Likewise, a self-watering label needs the actual components and instructions; it does not mean that every plant can be left indefinitely without attention.
Choose an ordinary first offer you can explain, such as an empty decorative pot for a specific nursery-pot size. Keep its dimensions and contents clear. A broad garden-supplies range can include many container types, but they should not share one vague product description.
02
Find a supplier for your buyer’s country
Check country coverage at product level:
| Route to investigate | What the public information establishes | What still needs confirmation |
|---|---|---|
| Everspring plant-and-pot marketplace | European core markets; UK route labeled coming soon | Your buyer country, SKU eligibility, origin and remedy route |
| Doba planter category | A catalog to investigate | Individual item availability, dispatch location and return arrangements |
| Manufacturer or trade supplier | Potential batch or stocked-fulfillment supply | Whether it accepts one consumer-address order; a pallet price is not that order’s cost |
Request material, dimensions, quantity, destination postcode and protective packing in the quote. Add the damage/return route. If a plant appears in the listing, establish whether it is included, supplied separately or only used in the photograph.
03
Measure the opening and the space inside
Outside diameter tells the buyer how much room the pot occupies. Inside measurements tell them what can fit. The rim and taper can make those numbers quite different.
Imagine a decorative pot measuring 16cm across the outside, with a 13cm usable opening. A nursery pot with a 14cm rim will not pass through that opening. Calling both products a similar nominal size will not fix the mismatch.

Record four measurements for the intended fit:
- Usable opening, inside the rim.
- Minimum internal width where the inner pot will sit.
- Usable depth, allowing for any feet, insert or raised base.
- The nursery pot’s widest rim and total height.
Leave appropriate clearance for removal and the actual shapes. A tapered inner pot may enter the opening yet sit too high; a snug fit may make it difficult to lift out for watering. Check the real combination rather than inventing a universal allowance.
Nuova Pasquini & Bini’s nursery-pot specification illustrates why dimensions and construction belong to the named product. Its trade table is not proof that a decorative pot elsewhere will accept the same nominal size.
Use unit-labeled photographs or a simple measurement view in the listing. If you only have outside dimensions, ask for the missing internal record before claiming compatibility.
04
Show where the water goes
Follow the physical path: growing medium, drainage opening, saucer, or a removable nursery pot inside a closed outer container. Show the buyer which arrangement they are purchasing.
A drainage hole allows water to leave the planting container. Without an appropriate saucer or other arrangement, that water may reach the surface underneath. A closed cachepot can contain a nursery pot, but accumulated water still needs to be managed according to the intended use.

State the parts separately:
- Is there a hole, a removable plug or neither?
- Is a saucer included or sold separately?
- Is the nursery pot included?
- Are reservoir, insert or overflow components present?
- Which assembly and care instructions apply?
Do not promise “no overwatering” or “leakproof” from the product’s appearance. A hole is a construction detail, not a guarantee of plant health. If the provider cannot explain a reservoir system clearly, do not fill the gap with a generic self-watering claim.
05
Price protective packing and a broken-order remedy
Ceramic, plastic and larger planter constructions create different packing needs. Compare the protected parcel, not the empty product weight. Ask how the pot is kept from moving, whether separate pieces can collide and what the finished box measures.
A controlled sample order lets you inspect ordinary arrival: cracks, chips, missing pieces, loose contents and agreement with the specification. It does not certify the packing for every journey or establish a universal breakage rate.
Here is a hypothetical illustration of why damage matters. Suppose a normal completed order contributes $8 after its ordinary costs, while a damaged order has a net contribution of −$20, including the full remedy assumptions you have chosen.
| Illustrative batch | Good-order contribution | Damaged-order contribution | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| 95 good, 5 damaged | 95 × $8 = $760 | 5 × −$20 = −$100 | $660 |
| 80 good, 20 damaged | 80 × $8 = $640 | 20 × −$20 = −$400 | $240 |
Those percentages are invented, not observations about any supplier. Replace them with actual order records, and calculate the net damaged-order cost carefully so you do not subtract the same refund or goods cost twice.
The comparison shows why a cheap pot with inadequate packing can be the expensive choice. Obtain the packing and damage-remedy terms before choosing on product price alone. The shipping damage-claims guide covers the evidence and supplier/carrier claim separately from helping the buyer.
06
Build a listing that will not surprise the buyer
For an illustrative cachepot, write: “Empty decorative outer pot; usable opening 13cm; closed base; nursery pot and plant not included.” Add the real external dimensions, internal depth, material and care.
That is more helpful than “premium planter for every plant.” A ceramic appearance does not establish frost resistance, food-contact suitability or handmade production. Match any such claim to the exact SKU and use.
Before accepting customer orders:
- Place one controlled order through the intended store route.
- Match item, color, quantity and supplier order ID.
- Compare received parts and dimensions with the listing. A substituted rim or saucer needs a fresh compatibility check.
- Put accessories beside their inclusion statement. Show actual product photos separately from styled illustrations. A pictured plant or saucer is not included unless the offer says so.
07
Offer a plant-and-pot bundle only when both parts fit
Everspring explicitly notes that not every plant can be combined with every pot. A named combination needs compatible dimensions and a fulfillment arrangement, not merely two attractive photographs.
Use the actual nursery-pot rim, height and weight for the plant being supplied. In the earlier example, a 14cm rim cannot enter a 13cm opening. Changing the plant image does not change that physical relationship.
Confirm whether the items travel in one parcel or separate shipments and what arrives ready to assemble. Living plants have destination and handling requirements beyond the empty pot; use the live-plants guide for that separate decision.
If you want empty pots sourced in China with samples and protective packing, send AIDrop the construction, inner and outer dimensions, quantity and destination. Include the exact nursery pot if fit is part of the offer. That makes the sourcing request testable.

Questions about dropshipping plant pots
Is plastic always better than ceramic for a first range?
There is no universal winner. Compare the intended appearance, use, packed weight, protection and customer remedy. Pick a product whose details you can explain and whose delivered costs work.
Can I use “six inch” as the complete size description?
No. Identify what is being measured and give the usable opening, depth and external footprint relevant to the buyer. Nominal labels do not establish inner-pot fit.
Does every planter have a drainage hole?
No. Check the construction and included parts. A closed outer pot serves a different arrangement from a direct-planting pot with drainage and a saucer.
Can a room photo show a plant even if I sell only the pot?
It can illustrate the setting, but clearly state that the plant is not included. Show the actual purchased contents and dimensions so the scene does not become a misleading bundle promise.
