One illustrated customer order containing a lamp and basket branches into two separate vendor purchase orders.

Duoplane helps an online store send orders to its existing suppliers, keep stock information synchronized and collect shipment updates. It is worth considering when that coordination is becoming difficult. The public Standard plan starts at $299 a month, but its allowance counts supplier-side purchase orders—not necessarily the number of customers who check out.

Perhaps your suppliers already make good products. The problem is the work between them: one wants an emailed order, another sends a stock file, and a third gives you tracking numbers to paste into your store. Adding more products can add more copying and more chances to attach information to the wrong order.

Duoplane addresses that coordination problem. It does not establish demand for your products, choose reliable suppliers for you or put their goods into one physical parcel. Before paying for it, compare three things: the work you need it to remove, the purchase orders you will actually generate and the information your suppliers can provide.

01

What work should Duoplane take over?

Think of a purchase order, or PO, as your store’s instruction to a supplier: these are the items to send, this is the delivery address and this is the order reference to use. A customer’s checkout is the retail sale. The PO is the separate order your business sends to the company doing the fulfillment.

Duoplane’s published workflow connects those records. It routes the appropriate items to vendors or warehouses, receives their shipment information and passes tracking back to the ecommerce platform. Its plans also address related work such as vendor collaboration and, on applicable tiers, accounting and electronic invoicing.

When the cost may be justified

That is a useful job when you have several established partners and spend time translating between their processes. If your real problem is that you have not found a product or supplier yet, this is an expensive place to start. A larger software allowance will not resolve an unknown product cost or an unreliable packing arrangement.

For a simpler store, compare the actual work you need with the alternatives in our dropshipping automation software guide. The reason to choose Duoplane should be a supplier workflow it can handle, rather than the general appeal of automating a store.

02

What do the plans really count?

Duoplane’s pricing page lists the following monthly prices in USD, checked October 26, 2026:

Plan Monthly price and included POs Additional PO
Standard $299; 1,000 POs $0.20
Professional $599; 2,500 POs $0.10
Premium $1,199; 10,000 POs $0.05
Enterprise Custom quote and allowance Confirm in the quote

The page describes monthly PO usage as vendor, warehouse and third-party logistics orders created and sent through Duoplane. Unlimited vendors, users and store connections do not mean unlimited purchase orders.

One thousand checkouts can create 1,400 POs

Here is a hypothetical month. Assume each customer order generates one PO for each partner supplying it:

Customer orders Partner orders generated
600 orders fulfilled by one partner each 600 × 1 = 600 POs
400 orders split between two partners each 400 × 2 = 800 POs
Total: 1,000 customer checkouts 1,400 POs

On the displayed Standard terms, the example exceeds the 1,000-PO allowance by 400. The calculation is $299 + (400 × $0.20) = $379, before any separately quoted setup or other business costs. Budgeting $299 from the checkout count alone misses $80.

Professional’s $599 base price would cover that example’s volume, but it costs $220 more than the calculated Standard usage. Order volume alone would not justify that upgrade here. An upgrade may still make sense if you need its accounting automation, electronic invoicing or EDI support. Choose the functions and usage together, rather than assuming a larger allowance is automatically cheaper.

To estimate your own usage, group recent orders by how many separate vendor, warehouse or logistics orders they would produce. Ask how cancellations, replacements and reissued POs count if those are common in your business; the example above does not settle those billing cases.

Implementation is another line to scope. A subscription price is not a quote for every custom connection or onboarding project. Include the work needed for your actual suppliers when comparing the total cost.

03

Can your vendors provide usable data?

A connection has two parts: getting information to the right place and making it mean the right thing. Receiving an email proves that it arrived. It does not prove that its order reference, quantities and tracking details were understood correctly.

Duoplane’s vendor introduction describes several delivery methods and file formats. The retailer helps configure the chosen method. Your supplier does not have to use the same system as every other supplier, but each connection still needs an agreed format and identifiers.

Ask each partner for an example of the information it can actually send:

Update What the example needs to identify
Shipment The purchase-order reference, carrier and tracking number in an agreed body or file
Stock The product identifier and availability values in the format you configure

“We send spreadsheets” is not enough if the identifier in the spreadsheet differs from the one stored against that vendor’s item. Match those identifiers during setup.

The distinction also explains an apparent contradiction in file support. A program can send a PDF purchase order to a supplier while a particular incoming tracking reader cannot extract shipment data from a PDF attachment. The direction and the specific importer matter. Agree the two sides separately instead of treating “PDF supported” as a promise about every incoming document.

If a partner specifically requires electronic business documents, our dropship EDI explanation covers their different jobs. If you are commissioning a custom connection, the dropshipping API guide explains the identifier and request questions. Those are deeper implementation decisions; they do not need to turn a software comparison into a programming project.

04

How would you check one shipment feed?

Duoplane documents an incoming-email tracking reader. For a supplier sending details in the email body, its instructions specify:

Setting Documented choice for this example
File format Unstructured text
Protocol Email (inbound)
Process email attachments No, because this example reads the body
Destination and sender Use the address supplied by the account; configure the permitted sender

If the data is in a supported attachment instead, the attachment setting changes. The documented reader excludes PDF and Word attachments. It also needs field-extraction rules matched to the supplier’s actual template; a familiar-looking email is not a finished configuration.

Match the update to the right purchase order

Agree a way to test with the provider before allowing automatic updates to live customer orders. The following is a fictional email-body example, not a sent message, valid tracking number or tested Duoplane account:

Reference Number 1: PO-DEMO-71
Tracking Number: DEMO-TRACK-88
Invoice Number: INV-DEMO-41

First establish the matching test PO in the agreed test arrangement. Have the extraction rules identify the three corresponding values from this template. Then inspect whether the update belongs to PO-DEMO-71, retains DEMO-TRACK-88 and associates the intended invoice reference where that field is used. An imported number attached to another PO fails the test even though text was successfully extracted.

Fictional shipment update and purchase order both carry PO-DEMO-71; the update has the illustrative tracking label DEMO-TRACK-88.
Fictional reference-matching illustration. Correct data association is the check; the image does not show a tested account or a delivered parcel.

The carrier needs the same care. Duoplane’s UPS example uses a fixed carrier transformation. That is appropriate only for a feed whose shipments all use the agreed carrier. Applying the same fixed value to a mixed-carrier feed would label some records incorrectly.

Next test a version with the PO reference missing. Agree how that exception will be surfaced and who will resolve it; do not treat a guessed association as a successful result. These are proposed acceptance checks, not a claim that the software will choose a particular failure behavior automatically.

Finally, inspect what reaches the customer-facing store order. A matched tracking update establishes a data association. The carrier’s actual events are still needed to understand the parcel’s movement.

05

What remains the merchant's responsibility?

An order can be created successfully and still be unpaid. Duoplane’s Shopify vendor-connection documentation says that integration creates unpaid orders in the vendor’s store and does not transmit funds. The retailer and vendor need their own payment arrangement.

For that arrangement, follow both records: did the vendor receive the right order, and was payment handled as agreed? If the vendor is waiting for payment, sending the order again may create more confusion without releasing the first one. The subscription bill, supplier purchase and customer’s payment are three separate transactions.

When stock updates fail

Stock information also has to match the real product. Duoplane’s inventory-feed troubleshooting guide distinguishes a feed not received from one received but not matched to catalog items. If a supplier sends its own SKU (product code) while the setup expects your store’s code, the connection can receive the file without updating the intended item. Resolve the identifier mismatch before relying on that quantity in your store.

Someone still needs to handle missing updates, stock exceptions and supplier changes. Name the person responsible for checking a failed import and contacting the vendor. Agree what happens to customer orders while the issue is unresolved. That operating decision matters more than whether the dashboard contains another automation switch.

Plan for support hours

The Shopify app reviews can help you form questions about onboarding and support, but dated individual experiences do not establish how your own connection will work. The current pricing page states support hours of 6 a.m.–5 p.m. Pacific. If your orders or vendors operate outside that window, include exception handling in the setup discussion rather than assuming round-the-clock response.

Software also cannot inspect a necklace set or repack a damaged carton. If your missing piece is China-side sourcing or packing, send AIDrop Agent the product, destination and supplier handoff you need. We can discuss that physical work separately from the Duoplane connection; an integration provider should scope the software setup itself.

Frequently asked questions

Will Duoplane find products and suppliers for my new store?

Evaluate it for the supplier and warehouse coordination described above. Do not build your launch budget around an assumed ready-to-sell supplier catalog. If you still need products, quotes and a supplier relationship, finish those decisions before choosing software to coordinate them.

Is a vendor account the same as a retailer subscription?

No. The vendor portal lets a retailer’s suppliers participate in its order workflow. That access is a different role from the merchant choosing and paying for a retailer plan. Establish which side of the relationship you are on before comparing charges or asking for a login.

Does Standard include the EDI work my supplier needs?

Duoplane’s X12 EDI guide lists that integration for Professional, Premium and Enterprise. Scope the partner’s actual documents and implementation as well as the subscription. The presence of a supported format does not make a new trading-partner connection configured and approved.

Can I cancel after trying it?

The pricing page describes monthly plans as month to month. It separately says annual plans are paid upfront and refunds are not accepted. Read the offer you are actually selecting; a monthly commitment description does not make an annual payment refundable. Confirm any trial terms rather than assuming a particular free period.

Will orders from several suppliers arrive in one parcel?

Order routing does not physically combine stock held in separate places. A single-parcel offer needs an actual consolidation or shared fulfillment arrangement, with its own packing, stock and delivery costs. Count the partner orders and physical parcels separately.

What would make a trial worth continuing?

A useful result is a specific workload handled correctly: the intended partner receives the right PO, usable stock and shipment data reach the right records, and someone knows what to do when a reference is missing. Compare the resulting fee and remaining manual work with your current process. If those connections cannot handle the supplier’s real information, a higher plan allowance alone does not fix the reason for the trial.
