TikTok Shop US prohibits buying a product from another retailer or e-commerce marketplace and having that retailer ship it directly to your customer. A supplier or fulfillment arrangement must also meet the platform’s product, shipping, tracking and customer-service requirements. An app connection alone does not establish compliance.
This article covers the United States market, using official policy pages checked on September 18, 2026. It does not apply UK or Southeast Asian rules to a US shop. The shipping methods and deadlines available in your Seller Center account also matter; do not build an operation around an option your account cannot use.
01
What the US policy rules out
The Customer Order Shipping Requirements expressly prohibit retailer-to-customer purchasing arrangements. A plan to wait for a TikTok sale, buy the item from another retail website and enter the TikTok customer’s address at that checkout falls within this restriction.
TikTok’s September 3, 2026 Order Packaging Requirements allow third-party providers to pack and ship goods provided the seller maintains ownership of the inventory. The goods can be physically held elsewhere, but the arrangement must satisfy that ownership condition. Keep the purchase and warehouse records consistent with it.
A wholesale or production relationship presents a different operating question. Can the supplier provide the actual stock, product records and fulfillment process your account requires? Calling a retail checkout “wholesale” does not change how the order is fulfilled. Ask who owns the inventory, who accepts the supply order and which warehouse actually hands over the parcel.
TikTok’s US seller terms leave sellers responsible for their listings, shipping and applicable customer rights. They also require compliance with product eligibility, prohibited-product and restricted-product rules. A logistics arrangement cannot make an otherwise prohibited product eligible.
The practical outcome is conditional: establish the seller arrangement, product eligibility and supported fulfillment route before listing. Avoid interpreting another shop’s active listing as a policy ruling for your business.
02
Match the supplier to your enabled shipping method
The current US shipping requirements describe Seller Shipping, TikTok Shipping and Fulfilled by TikTok. Seller Shipping may be available only to selected sellers. The existence of all three in a help article does not mean a new account can select any of them.
| Method shown for your account | What the supplier or warehouse must support | Question to settle before accepting orders |
|---|---|---|
| Seller Shipping | Supported carrier service and accurate shipment information | Can the actual route produce the required scans on time? |
| TikTok Shipping | The platform’s assigned label, warehouse and carrier process | Can the warehouse use those labels and hand parcels to the correct carrier? |
| Fulfilled by TikTok | Inventory prepared and received through the applicable FBT process | Is the product available for fulfillment before the offer depends on it? |
TikTok’s current shipping instructions list integrations that include dropshipping providers. That supports a narrower conclusion than “all dropshipping is banned,” but it is not blanket approval of every product, supplier location or service offered by an integrated provider.
If your warehouse already ships orders for another channel, confirm that it can distinguish those orders from TikTok Shipping orders. Its usual carrier account may be inappropriate for an order requiring a platform-generated label. Collection by TikTok parcels have their own handoff process; they should not simply enter an unrelated carrier’s collection pile.
A useful trial follows the complete order without claiming a sale you have not made. Verify a representative SKU, assigned warehouse, label generation, package dimensions and intended handoff. Ask the provider to explain how failures are reported when a label cannot be generated or the pickup does not occur. An integration demonstration that ends at “order imported” has not shown fulfillment.
03
Know which event satisfies the deadline
For regular US orders, the official Fulfillment Policy requires the order to reach In Transit within two business days of Awaiting Shipment and Delivered within six business days. It also describes auto-cancellation when tracking has not been added to move the order to Awaiting Collection within five business days.
Those are different milestones. Creating a label does not mean the carrier has accepted the parcel. The five-day auto-cancellation boundary is not an extension of the two-day dispatch requirement.
Made-to-order, backorder, custom-handling and preorder arrangements have separate rules. Check the order type, enabled tools and actual deadline in Seller Center. Do not classify a normal stocked product as made to order merely because a supplier needs more time. Business-day calculations and account notices also matter; a generic transit estimate cannot replace the displayed deadline.
Consider an illustrative regular order whose label appears promptly but whose parcel stays at the supplier for three business days. The buyer has a tracking number, yet the physical handoff is already late relative to the standard dispatch requirement. Expediting the final-mile service may improve arrival, but it cannot retroactively create an on-time acceptance scan.
For that reason, ask a supplier for both its order-to-handoff performance and its carrier transit estimate. Include its collection cutoff and non-working days in the review. If stock still needs to move between warehouses before the customer parcel can be handed over, include that movement in the plan.
The dropshipping shipping-time guide explains how processing, transport and delivery fit together. TikTok Shop adds platform-specific order milestones to that physical process.
04
Keep origin, labels and product records consistent
The shipping label should describe the parcel actually being sent. Warehouse location, carrier, destination, weight and dimensions need to agree with the physical shipment and the selected method. Avoid services marketed primarily as a way to make an overseas parcel appear to have shipped from somewhere else.
A US tracking number can exist before a parcel reaches the US carrier. It is therefore insufficient evidence that the item is ready for the required domestic handoff. Ask for the real origin and the sequence of carrier events. Where a supplier consolidates parcels before handing them to a final-mile carrier, investigate whether that interval fits your account’s requirements rather than assuming the final tracking number solves it.
Retain an order record that connects:
- The sold SKU and quantity to the supplier’s accepted instruction.
- The warehouse and selected shipping method to the actual label.
- The tracking number to the carrier’s first acceptance and later delivery events.
- Any exception to the person responsible for resolving it.
This is an operating recommendation, not a promise that those records will win an appeal. Keep genuine original evidence; screenshots of a spreadsheet you created are not equivalent to independent carrier events.
Product records need their own review. Confirm that any brand rights, category permissions and safety documentation apply to the exact item being listed. Similar packaging or a shared catalog image does not establish that two suppliers provide the same model. Do not allow a stock shortage to trigger an unapproved substitution.
05
Handle failed orders through Seller Center
When a supplier cannot fulfill an order, get the actual status before choosing a remedy. A parcel still on a packing bench is different from one already accepted by a carrier. Avoid sending a replacement until you know whether the original order has been canceled, shipped or refunded; otherwise the buyer can receive duplicate parcels while the account still records a failed order.
Stop releasing affected orders when the warehouse is using the wrong fulfillment method. Correct the remaining orders before repeating the mistake.
Use the options and deadlines shown for the actual order. Buyer cancellation, return and refund rights are governed by the applicable TikTok Shop policies and law; a supplier’s refusal to reimburse you does not decide what the customer is entitled to receive. Keep the customer remedy and the supplier recovery as separate tasks.
For a violation, read the reason and the available action in Seller Center. The Violation & Appeal Guide describes restrictions and appeal options, but deadlines can vary with the case. Submit evidence addressing the named issue: for example, original carrier information for a disputed handoff or the relevant supply records for a sourcing question.
An appeal is not a reason to leave a known defect running. If the warehouse cannot use the required labels, or the supplier cannot make stock available by the deadline, reduce or pause the affected offer while finding a workable arrangement.

Questions about policy compliance
Does TikTok Shop ban every form of dropshipping?
The current US official material does not support that blanket statement. It explicitly prohibits retail-marketplace purchasing and direct shipment to the buyer, while its logistics documentation includes supplier integrations. The particular product, account and fulfillment arrangement still have to comply.
Can a supplier ship directly from China to a US customer?
Do not assume that a direct route is permitted or workable for your account. Verify your seller program, actual dispatch origin, enabled shipping method and order deadlines with the relevant US Seller Center requirements. This guide does not treat a fast carrier quote or a US tracking number as approval of a cross-border arrangement.
Is FBT mandatory for every seller?
The current US shipping policy describes multiple methods and limits some options to selected sellers. Use the methods actually enabled for your account and review any migration notice you receive. General claims that every seller must use FBT omit that account-specific context.
